This book is a short, dry government publication that covers the basics of getting a patent. It's cheap and is a good, authoritative overview, so it's worth the price. It gave me a taste of how complicated it is, and I decided to not pursue a patent. I also read a New York Times story on the web and found that those folks who advertise on TV will gladly take your money but rarely do what they advertise. So read this book and be careful.
This little booklet provides the most basic information about patents. I bought it thinking that it would be a good thing to supply new employees at my company. Although I think it is OK in terms of content (nothing particularly bad), I am not sure that there is anything interesting enough here to get anyone to really read through it.Most of this information can be found on-line and up to date from government websites. Although I have not checked, it would not surprise me to find this very information as it was created by the USPTO. Unless you are keen to have things in bound form, there really is no need to own this book.

Probably outdated but still good info on where to start.
This book has started me on a path to understanding patents and patent law, albeit to a somewhat basic extent. But that basic information was quite helpful and gave me the knowledge I expected.The book is written simply, so it is easy to understand by any lay person; however, it is probably still thorough enough to entertain even a person acquainted with other realms of law.The only con to the book is that it became somewhat repetitive and dry at times. (I just skipped those parts.)
Always good to have multiple books about s particular issue and this one was a good too.
