About the Author
Born in Germany, Edgar Rothermich (DingDingMusic.com) studied music and sound engineering at the prestigious Tonmeister program at the Berlin Institute of Technology (TU) and the University of Arts (UdK) in Berlin where he graduated in 1989 with a Master's Degree. He worked as a composer and music producer in Berlin and moved to Los Angeles in 1991 where he continued his work on numerous projects in the music and film industry ("The Celestine Prophecy", "Outer Limits", "Babylon 5", "What the Bleep do we know", "Fuel", "Big Money Rustlas").For the past 20 years Edgar has had a successful musical partnership with electronic music pioneer and founding Tangerine Dream member Christopher Franke. Recently in addition to his collaboration with Christopher, Edgar has been working with other artists as well as on his own projects. In 2010 he started to release his solo records in the "Why Not ..." series with different styles and genres. The current releases are "Why Not Solo Piano", "Why Not Electronica", "Why Not Electronica Again", and "Why Not 90s Electronica". This previously unreleased album was produced in 1991/1992 by Christopher Franke. This book Print Version 2013 is not really helpful when you have the latest version of Garage Band, too much time spent having to decipher screens and where they moved this window or that screen. Finally had some time to get into it after being out of the country and missed my return window.Tried to find info from the author or is there was another more recent edition to no avail.WAAAAAAAHHHHH!
The picture / numbers / steps approach is the only way to go for such visually-based software. The information presented shows an in-depth knowledge of the the inner workings of the software. This should be the first book for the beginning user and a handy reference for the experienced one. The sections on file sharing and using iCloud with GarageBand for iPad are invaluable.
This book was quite helpful. I went from being totally confused with Garageband for iPad to being able to record/create some tunes. Have only used it a little but is nice to know that I can make it work.
I am pencil and paper person.This book helped me to make first step towards understanding digital music and recording.
I have an old copy of GarageBand on my computer and just bought a iPad and needed to have some help. This has great illustrations and information. Highly recommended.
This is a good book. I must confess that I couldn't readily figure out from the book how to get a VST into GarageBand. I had to ask online. Otherwise it's doing a good job of teaching me GarageBand.
